Featured Team Members
Darren started the company back in 2001 with Steve and to this day both directors work very closely together to ensure the company sticks to its goal of continual improvement. Darren takes care of the general managing of the company along with sales and quality assurance focusing on systems to prevent quality and delivery problems.
Steve runs the workshop and looks after the quality control focusing on detecting any quality and delivery issues. After starting the company with Darren, Steve has followed his passion for engineering and spends most of his days in either the workshop or inspection.
Brian has been in the trade for over 44 years having completed his apprenticeship at A.U.W.E. (Admiralty Underwater Weapons Establishment) with a City and Guilds certificate as a Mechanical Engineering Technician. Much of Brian's working life has been spent in aerospace industries and he specialises in multi-axis milling. Brian has an unparalleled knowledge of CAD/CAM programming.
Assistant Workshop Manager
Wayne has been part of the backbone of Bay Engineering for many years. His main duties involve scheduling and programming our lathes. Having been in the trade for over 20 years, qualified with City and Guilds in CAD and CNC Part Programming, his knowledge and skill on Mazak lathes is second to none. Wayne also has vast experience from high quality commercial through to aerospace industries.
Lee is our super quick One-CNC CAD programmer. Originally qualified with a Paragon apprenticeship Lee now has 11 years experience in high quality commercial and aerospace industries. Qualifications in engineering in the form of NVQ level 3, City and Guilds Advanced Diploma in Engineering have helped Lee master our One-CNC CAD and Haas machines.
Steve maintains the factory to its pristine standard and delivers the majority of our components. If you see our van out and about, chances are that Steve is driving. Steve has been with us 5 years now and has proved to be a valuable member of the team.
Nick covers a variety of jobs. Booking in materials, stores, goods out, packaging and product finishing are all in Nick's capable hands. He has an eye for detail that is second to none and helps keep the factory flowing efficiently. Nick also gets involved with measuring the companies KPIs.
Gary has been in the trade for over 37 years. Progressing from his apprenticeship in manual turning to programming CNC lathes Gary has a wealth of knowledge in engineering. Qualified with City and Guilds and having worked for many industries including Formula 1 motorsport Gary is a massive asset to Bay Engineering.
Stuart joined our team at Bay Engineering 2 years ago. Since completing an apprentiship he has gained experience in aerospace and high quality commercial engineering. He is also qualified with City & Guilds and a Level 4 NVQ. Stuart is usually found programming one of our 3 or 5 axis mills.
CNC Miller - Night Shift Team Leader
Spencer has rapidly become an indispensible team member since joing us in March 2017. On top of his City & Guilds and NVQ Level 4, he has previously worked for sub-contract companies in the UK and abroad, bringing with him a wealth of aerospace knowledge. Having worked night shifts for over 17 years Spencer was the perfect fit for our nighttime supervision roll.
Armo joined us just 6 months ago. He has already shown a natural talent and has nearly 4 years prior experience as a machine shop manager. We look forward to progressing his career at Bay Engineering.
Quality & Safety Manager
Tony has been part of expansion since 2015. He has enabled us to keep pushing the bar higher when it comes to our quality performance. He also helps keep us compliant with health & safety legislation and other regulatory requirements.
Josh has lead our IT efforts since we moved in to our new factory 6 years ago. He maintains our bespoke ERP software, network and servers. Josh has also been key to our IT expansion efforts as we have grown.
