Broaching for Allen/hex keys, Torx etc.

Published: 30/11/2016

We are now able to offer you the facility to produce internal hexagons to suit your requirements, with the recent addition of a new broaching tool. Internal hexagonal forms can be produced in house, commonly to suit Allen or hex keys, but other forms are available on request e.g. Torx, spline or square forms etc.

We can broach your components with any standard size hexagon between 2 mm and 32 mm and offer Torx sizes between T6 and T55, other sizes and forms available on request. We have had positive customer feedback as to the quality of the hexagons being produced and also the more professional appearance as opposed to slotting components for use with screwdrivers.

The only design requirement needed for the tool to work is that the pilot hole needs to be drilled slightly deeper than the form to be produced. If this can be incorporated into the component design, then internal hexagons are an option we can now provide for our customers - even in low volume.

The photos are of a small turned component with a broached hexagon in the end and the broaching tool that has been used to produce it. If this sounds like a service that could be of use to you, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
